Canva MCP: Documentation

Updated:

Connection

Endpoint https://mcp.canva.com/mcp, HTTP transport (a local fallback via mcp-remote is also available). Authorization is OAuth 2.1, with Client ID Metadata Documents (CIMD) as the recommended approach — the client_id is an HTTPS URL pointing to a JSON document describing the client; classic Dynamic Client Registration still works but is marked deprecated. Every user connects their own Canva account individually.

Tools

30+ tools by group: designs (search-designs, get-design, generate-design, copy-design and more), assets (upload-asset-from-url, get-assets), autofill and brand templates (autofill-design, search-brand-templates, list-brand-kits), comments (comment-on-design, list-comments), exports and resize (export-design, resize-design), plus folders and editing transactions (start-editing-transaction, perform-editing-operations, commit-editing-transaction).

Agent flow

"Generate an Instagram post about a summer sale and export it as PNG", "find our latest business card design and leave a comment", "autofill our presentation's brand template with our data" (Enterprise) — the agent works Canva with no editor open.

Pricing

Core designs/exports/comments/assets are available on every Canva plan; resize-design requires Canva Pro or above; autofilling brand templates (autofill-design), brand kits and brand templates are Enterprise-only.
