Connection
Repo: github.com/Rudra-ravi/wikipedia-mcp (275★). Install: pip install wikipedia-mcp or uvx wikipedia-mcp (stdio). No auth needed — it uses Wikipedia's public REST API (opensearch/extracts actions).
Tools
Search articles by query (search_articles), get a short article summary (get_summary), get the full article text (get_article), select the Wikipedia language edition (defaults to the one implied by the query).
Agent flow
"Give me a short summary of this topic for a footnote", "check a fact against its Wikipedia article", "find articles related to this term".
Pricing
Completely free — neither the server nor the Wikipedia API requires payment or signup.

A community project (Rudra-ravi), not officially affiliated with the Wikimedia Foundation. Covers Wikipedia articles only — for more specialized research sources, the arXiv MCP or PubMed MCP fit better.
