Wolfram MCP

Up

Wolfram MCP is Wolfram Research's official server, giving an agent access to Wolfram|Alpha and the Wolfram Language: exact computation, plots, statistical analysis and verified scientific data instead of model guesses. The cloud mode needs no key or subscription for small-scale use; the local mode requires a Wolfram|One or Mathematica license and adds offline access.

Why this server

  • Exact Wolfram Language computation instead of the language model's rough guesses
  • Wolfram Cloud MCP works with no key and no subscription — start right away
  • WolframAlpha returns verified scientific and statistical data, not text scraped from the web
  • A local mode for Wolfram|One and Mathematica owners — offline, with a persistent session

Usage examples

Prompt: Solve this second-order differential equation and plot the solution

Result: WolframLanguageEvaluator computed the exact solution and plotted it — no risk of the model's own arithmetic mistakes.

Prompt: What's Japan's population according to the latest official data?

Result: WolframAlpha returned a verified figure with its source, instead of the model's rough guess.

Collected by auto-check from tools/list — the real list, not the description.

  • WolframAlpha

Use natural language queries with Wolfram|Alpha to get up-to-date computational results about entities in chemistry, physics, geography, history, art, astronomy, and more.

  • WolframContext

Uses semantic search to retrieve any relevant information from Wolfram. Always use this tool at the start of new conversations or if the topic changes to ensure you have up-to-date relevant information. This uses semantic search, so the context argument should be written in natural language (not a search query) and contain as much detail as possible (up to 250 words).

  • WolframLanguageEvaluator

Evaluates Wolfram Language code for the user in a Wolfram Language kernel. If a formatted result is provided as a markdown link, use that in your response instead of typing out the output. Parse natural language input with `\[FreeformPrompt]["query"]`, which is analogous to ctrl+= input in notebooks. Natural language input is parsed before evaluation, so it works like macro expansion. You should ALWAYS use this natural language input to obtain things like `Quantity`, `DateObject`, `Entity`, etc. This is a stateless kernel, so you cannot reuse definitions from previous evaluations.
